Thrilla in the Villa... the VP debate wasn't some huge knock-down drag-out affair like the presidential debate was, but it provided its own sparks. With Joe Biden mugging for the split screen every time Paul Ryan spoke, it was a bit oft-putting to some people watching. I liked a comment I heard where they compared the debate to an argument between Alex Keaton and Mr. Keaton from Family Ties Season 30. Good stuff. Will this debate move the needle in any direction? Hardly. It did show that Paul Ryan wasn't afraid to go mano-a-mano with crazy Uncle Joe. Looking forward to the next debate. Let's hope we keep the gesticulations to a minimum. The outright lies out of it. And people see the candidates for what they are

Numbers Don't Lie, Until They Do

I'm not a big fan of this current administration, but what happened today defies logic. If for some reason Obama is re-elected soley on the basis of the unemployment going to 7.8% today, we'll wonder if it was for real or were we duped. To have the rate drop form 8.1% to 7.8% with only 115k new jobs created is to be laughable. There would have to be something like 250k-300k jobs created for that number to drop so much. Even when almost all the analysts thought it would go up, instead it not only didn't go up, it went down, and it went down a lot. Given the time of year, the current state of the economy and the election just around the corner, it makes you wonder if something is afoul in the state of Denmark. I am not sure if Obama or Biden will be back to Manchester anytime soon before the election, but it will be interesting to see how this plays out by Nov 7. I hope that after Wednesday's great debate performance, he'll take the fight to Obama. He's not out of the woods yet, but one can hope he channels "debate Romney" and presses his temporary advantage.

Bankruptcy or Bust

Well it's silly season here and the political ads are flying fast and furious. When did we arrive to a point in our highly charged political climate where the desire to win at all costs mean we throw all semblance of truthfulness out the door? Right now we're being inundated with ads that are 1/2 true, somewhat true, and patently false. Nevermind what you see on those factchecker web sites, they're towing a particular line as well, they just do a better job hiding their bias. The Bushes (41 & 43) are out of office, and yet you still hear them being used as a scapegoat for the current failed policies. When will this administration lead? How much longer will the unemployment rate stay at 8% and above? When will this blatant attack on people that are successful be over? Why should we try to make other countries feel good about themselves, I seriously doubt they'd do the same for this country. We're staring $1.5 Trillion in the face every year for the next 4 years, just like we did for the past 4. When will it stop, and when will we have to go hat-in-hand to other countries and beg to have them buy our debt. Everyday the FED buys more debt and out currency goes don in value. And this was the hope and change we were waiting for? I doubt it.

Fantasy Follies

So it would seem that I am not the fantasy guru I thought I was when it comes to football. I thought I was going to bring the pain against my opponent and instead I got creamed when just about everyone on my team just about turtled up. Add to that indignity that 2 other teams in the league scored 3 times as may points as I did....this is going to be a long season again.

Daniel Pinard - First Post - Charged and ready to go.

Daniel Pinard - Charged and Ready to go!

This is my first foray into a blog about anything and everything. I have been really charged about some of the photo/video work I have been doing lately and I wanted to talk about it here. I also have done some cool indie movie stuff that I'd like to discuss. I'm sure that some of my former work will find its way here as well. I've got lots to write about including music and art and technology, but for now I'll stick to my creative stuff. I can hear Matthew Sweet's song 'Girlfriend' playing on the radio and it gets me thinking about all sorts of things.
I'll comment on politics as well as I'm not crazy about where we're headed and how Obama keeps blaming the Bushes for all the problems he's inherited, even the ones he's created. We'll see come November though.  Looking forward to chatting more, but I guess that's all for now.
